TripAdvisor Travellers Choice 2015″: the Hotel Baltic in Giulianova is the 5th best family hotel in Italy.

The Family Hotel Baltic in Giulianova returns to be awarded by TripAdvisor’s travelers and in 2015 confirms FIFTH best hotel for families in Italy.

A Family Hotel is a hotel specializes in accommodating to families with children, even very small.

We stayed at the Hotel Baltic with Sissi in early September for a long weekend and you can read here a detailed report of our experience, which I summarize again with the phrase “feel at home“.

It’s just the way you feel at Baltic: at home.

A small village by the sea with many proposals for fun and relaxation: sports with aqua fitness, pilates, swimming, hiking and mountain biking in the hills and city bikes on the bike path, from cooking and DIY classes to aperitifs at the beach and the port, from yoga to relaxing massages, from theater to hiking in the area. There’s something for everyone.

With their services for children, they touch excellence: safe and well equipped spaces to run and play outdoors in the woods and on the beach, dedicated assistance for the children of the baby club (12-36 months) and for the kids of the miniclub (4-12 years) creativity workshops, bedtime stories, readings and games, everything necessary to ensure a comfortable sleep and the baby food at the restaurant, sport and relaxation with swimming, aquatics and infant massage.

At Baltic Hotel you feel very good, you feel like home, you feel like family among families. This was written by hundreds of families who have been there.
In 2014 the Baltic celebrated its thirtieth anniversary with an absolutely positive balance. In 2015 again, Baltic Hotel starts with a well-deserved place of honor in the top 25 of the Family Hotel Italian.

All we need to do is heal, recover and wait for summer!

Hotel Baltic, Giulianova: sentirsi a casa

Do you remember the offer for September at Baltic Hotel? Well. We’ve been there , from September 6th to 8th and those who follow me on Instagram has been able to see some shots.

We had never been in a Family hotel and, to tell the whole truth, so far we had a little snubbed this kind of hotels, we love on the road travels, travels lived to the full, unusual destinations, museums, I hate that resorts and rather I prefer a quiet and deserted beach in Holland at Easter… but… at Baltic Hotel I changed my mind: after all you do not have to think about anything, you can pack your luggage in peace and if you forget something, they are prepared for any eventuality and needs of your child. From baby bottles to books, from games to potty, bottle warmer or strollers

Activities are organized according to schedules and of course are very precise, always geared to the needs of children. It depends on you: if you want to make only beach life”, you will find a wide beautiful beach with umbrellas and beach games for children and adults. But there are also hiking, Nordic walking, cycling, fitness, creative workshops for mothers, educational workshops for children… besides the relaxing pinewood, the bar is always open, and there are so many games for children, swimming pool, pingpong...

At Baltic Hotel they also think about us, the moms: I have not attended the course on baby-sling because now Sissi has 30 months, but I rather enjoyed very much the course about books and how to read them to our children taught by Margherita, who was very expert in the “Nati per Leggere” (=Born to Read) project (the hotel adheres to this project and has an authentic library from which you can borrow books suitable for your children at all times of the day).

Another strong point, even I dare to say very strong, at Baltic Hotel is the restaurant.

They have ababy menu” designed especially for them by the chef and nutritionist. The maitre Dino treats the little guests really as “guests“, he asks if the food is fine, chats with them, entertains them, offers different colors and placemats to write/color. The food itself is like the one you prepare at home: really, trust me. I’m a mom who have always cooked all alone at home, avoiding prepackaged foods, I’m obsessed with organic food and with the principles of healthy and balanced nutrition. Sissi is a good eater, but when we travel she always eats just a few: instead at Baltic Hotel she has always eaten everything, just like at home.

People. At the end the human side makes all the difference.

Francesca, I’m talking to you, but not only: I would like to remember the names of everybody but my memory (short) stops me the girls at the reception, kind and sweet with Sissi. The boys of animation, patients, always. With a smile, always. Even with so many children, even in the midst of whims. The girls at the bar, friendly and nice. And last and not least (of course), the director: yes. A man: I would have said that behind a so well-organized management there was a mom… instead, a director who understands the needs of families with children, including that guests with children need simple: they need everything that you can find at Baltic Hotel!

One thought for those who say that Giulianova is a very quiet place. Yes, it is. But this is right: it is a family hotel, a place for families, where in the evening you can dance, laugh and joke with animation (really well done). But then, you go to sleep, the children go to sleep, and they are respected. If you then want to go to Pacha every night with children of two years, I can recommend a good plane to Ibiza and you, in return, will explain to me how do you go clubbing till 6 in the morning for a week with your little children. Thanks.

DO YOU SPEAK ENGLISH? Click HERE for English text!
And after having told you the legend of Nera and Velino (here) and revealed at the end of the post our trip to Marmore Waterfalls, today I’ll tell you how it was and I’ll show you some pictures of the place and Sissi’s outfit.

Marmore Waterfalls, with its jump of 165 meters, is the highest in Europe. It is actually an artificial jump, already built in the third century BC by the Romans to drain the land above of the waterfall and then modified over the centuries and further exploited by the early nineteenth century with the hydroelectric plant. For this reason, the water flow undergoes changes during the day and there are times for the release the waters, which is worth a look if you are visiting the area.

The whole area is very well organized, with paths, signs, bars and restaurants, a small market, souvenir shops,  parking, toilettes.

It‘s really a convenient and practical place to visit with the children, even very small.

You can also make a nice picnic because there are plenty of benches and tables spread a bit all over the area. We began our visit to the Belvedere Inferiore (Lower), the point where you can appreciate the waterfall from below”. A bit hesitant we decided to take the path n.1, indicated moderately difficult with time 45to rise to 25 to descend: we have walked only up to the “Lovers’ Balcony(about half the path) and it is really worth. Sissi (almost 30 months) has always walked alone (with some help on the stairs) and we have not been very slow.

We also route the path n.2, which runs along a loop in the area of the second jump. A path simple, fast, all-in-plain.

For dinner we moved to the Belvedere Superiore (Upper), to appreciate the waterfall from above by the porch of the Specola” ( Observatory).

The outfit for Sissi is simple, practical and comfortable.

Since we are still in the process of nappies-goodbyeI also brought in my bag many other shorts and panties (for mishaps) and multi-use pads (always useful). To visit the falls raincoat can not miss: penguins from Mini Rodini have accompanied us the whole way along the paths and I must say they fulfilled their task very well! Sissi dry! And so happy!

DO YOU SPEAK ENGLISH? Click HERE for English text!
Today I will tell you a legend A beautiful and graceful nymph, Nera, daughter of God Apennines, fell in love with a young shepherd called Velino. The goddess Juno during a banquet came to know of this profane love and decided to punish the Nymph bringing her to the top of Mount Ascensione where she transformed the girl into a river: the Nera River. She began to flow like a flood of tears, until she get to the cliff where she had met Velino the first time. Velino, not knowing what had happened to his beloved, questioned a sibyl that revealed what had happened. At this point, Velino decided to jump off the cliff to be reunited with his beloved Nera. That waterfall is a symbol of their eternal love.

Happy Ferragosto to everybody! Today we go for a hike in this naturalistic place, poetic, romantic, in some ways even green… who guess where?

Tomorrow all the photos, outfits, thoughts… for today I wish you will celebrate this festival of Midsummer with the people you care most and fill your life, have fun with your children, spend a quiet and carefree day.
