Excuse my French! The theme of Maison&Objet on January 2019

France is back in fashion (but when it’s REALLY gone out of fashion?!) and it does great through the topic chosen for the January 2019 edition entitled Excuse my French!: MAISON&OBJET offers visitors the opportunity to discover new French brands and designers.

At this time on the international scene there is a renewed curiosity for the French, a kind of fascination. In a world where things are standardizing, people are looking for something different.

(Vincent Grégoire – NellyRodi)

Vincent Grégoire brings to light a series of factors responsible for the renewed rebirth of France. There are numerous small companies, the so-called petites maisons, able to reinterpret the traditional savoir-faire with lines of products characterised by innovation and exclusivity. There is also a new wave of creative artists open to multicultural influences that shake the traditional French chic and inject inspirations from the outside into a continuous development of new moods characterized by fusion and mix ‘n’ match.

The impact of hi-tech industry is also very important in this French rebirth: Paris is home to the world’s largest start-up campus, Station F, and the companies are protagonists in the new technologies that are making revolutionary changes in home environment. The world of design, at the same time, is rich in figures whose style could be described as “Classic with A Twist”. They are personalities who carry with them the typically French notes of irreverence and audacity, eccentricity and extravagance recognizable in the original mood of their every work.

Rising Talent Awards 2019

An unmissable appointment for the international design community, Rising Talent Awards organized by MAISON&OBJET in January 2019 edition are looking towards East, exploring the rapidly evolving scene of Chinese design. After the success of the editions dedicated to United Kingdom, Italy and Lebanon, China will make known its Rising Talents at the Parc des Expositions of Paris Nord Villepinte, from 18th to 22nd January 2019. The choice to focus on the young Chinese designers testifies to the rapid evolution, driven by design, of the country, and reflects the ambition of MAISON&OBJET to remain in the forefront in the advancement and development of international design.
