Street Art in Valencia with Vingino

Among the many monuments, museums, venues of Valencia, on our last trip to this beautiful Spanish city we have looked for a new itinerary to be discovered by Sissi and her friends. This time we explored Valencia’s street art.

If you search street art in Valencia, you will find it in Barrio de El Carme. El Carme (in Valenciano, or El Carmen in Castellano) is the oldest historical center of Valencia, grown among the Arab walls, dated XI century, and Christian ones, dated XIV century. Today it is a neighbourhood of the old town with a rather bohemian air, which, next to many bars and restaurants, with flower and green squares, presents to the tourist also areas of degradation.

This is where the street art played its best function: hiding degradation, it improves some ugly views, bringing colors into the streets. So El Carme has become over the years a place renowned for its street art, concentrated among other things in a relatively small area and easy to walk and admire, just like an open air museum. It remembers a lot Valparaiso in Chile.

Street Art in Valencia

Walking through the narrow streets of El Carmen, new murals have welcomed us almost everywhere: street art is constantly evolving! There are many local artists such as ESCIF, internationally famous for its politically motivated large murals. Much smaller, and present almost everywhere, there are the black figures in the cartoonesque Ninja style of David de Limón.
Also interesting the works of street artists belonging to the group XLF, also from Valencia. Each one has its own style: like the Asian girls in kawaii style of Julieta, the pink rabbits of Barbi, the characters inspired by the comics of Deih and the robotic figures of Xélon. Even foreign street performers like Blue have left their mark in the street art of Valencia.

If you want a tip to stay in Valencia with a great value for money, surely I can recommend  Hotel Malcom & Barret, a brand new hotel that remains not too far from the old town, easily reachable by public transports. Very close to the attractions of Ciudad de las Ciencias and of L’Oceanografic, the hotel has finely furnished modern rooms, children’s entertainment and bicycles.

Street Art in Valencia: Vingino AW18

One of the advantages of visiting an open air museum like the one in El Carmen is that everybody (from small children to teenagers) loves street art and… it’s FREE! In this barrio you will find many vintage-style shops, bohemian objects, trendy clubs. Many streets are pedestrian and wandering around the neighbourhood you will also find several small squares and little parks for children.

In our tour discovering the street art in Valencia we styled Vingino AW18 collection, both in the main collection and in the capsule by Danie, created by the designer Danie Bles. I have spoken to you about this Dutch brand several times, as I often bought for Sissi when I had to choose denim garments. In Valencia, we have discovered that Vingino is much more: versatile garments, perfect even for teenage girls, easy to wear, comfortable, with mix and match garments with a very urban appeal. Perfect for merging with the street art in Valencia!
