What to see in Copenhagen: Østerbro and Souls

When you ask me what to see in Copenhagen, especially with children, I often tell you about Østerbro.

Østerbro is the Little Mermaid and the Kastellet, but not only: it is a neighborhood near the water, with a new park on the beach in Svanemøllen, and also one of the greenest areas of the city, Fælledparken – the largest public park of Denmark – with sports facilities, fields to play, tennis courts, skating areas, the National stadium and many dog areas.

But not only that. Østerbro is also wide avenues to walk, designer shops (like a huge Normann Copenhagen: 1700 sqm), the Den Frie Centre of Contemporary Art (the Museum of Contemporary Art), restaurants and cafes. Østerbro is also known as Copenhagen Ø, located north of the city centre and it is a very family-friendly and at the same time elegant neighborhood.

You can start your tour discovering Østerbro from the Østerport metro/bus stop:

Where to eat in Østerbro: Souls – Eat like you give a fork

After a walk and a little shopping, if you want to stop for lunch or dinner in fully Danish style, located in the beautiful square of Melchiors Plads, green by day and illuminated at night, Souls is for you.

Souls is a mix of Danish style and products and a simple and relaxed approach typically Australian: it was founded by two Australians and the best Danish vegan chef Neel Engholm. Souls literally put the soul in the food it offers thanks to the raw materials of local origin and of the highest quality.

A perfect place for vegetarians and vegans, Souls will also appeal to those who, like us, love good food! You will not get out hungry: the portions are abundant and the dishes are complete from the nutritional point of view.

Supreme Salad: Tofu steak, sweet potatoes, hummus, avocado, quinoa, edamame beans, mix of super greens and cashew-curry dressing.
Soul Burger: Caramelised onions, pesto, grilled zucchini, and rosemary dressing.

What about kids? Sissi fell asleep after a very long day, but surely pizza, burgers or pancakes, as well as juices and smoothies will satisfy even the palate of the youngest!
