Although we always travel with our little girl, our choice falls on comfortable, beautiful, even luxurious hotels. We’re not the typical family that venture into a hippy backpackers-travel with a kid (I hate uncomfortable beds and camping tends), and we believe that you can travel with style and class even with an enthusiastic 5-years-old little girl.
Probably our choices are dictated by age (were not so young) and by the full trust in the (good) education of our daughter…
We already knew The Church Palace
In a hot summer evening in the garden of The Church Palace we had the privilege to assist Sabrina Persechino’s fashion show for AltaRoma and then we visited the interior of the hotel during the cocktail. I was pleasantly surprised by the colors of the interior, by the terrace, by the art and so I put the hotel in my wishlist.
The Church Palace, former Domus Mariae Palazzo Carpegna, is a striking 4 star superior hotel set in a beautiful historical Renaissance-inspired building. Surrounded by a private park, with an ancient fountain and an 18th century nymphaeum, the hotel harmoniously integrates with the Villa Carpegna Park.
Behind the beautiful cloister, at the very heart of the hotel, lies a majestic Church with a nave and two side aisles and a splendid colonnade of precious green marble. Alongside its natural religious function, the Church is also available for concerts and other prestigious events.
The Church Palace Rome
The Church Palace offers 200 rooms including Smart, Classic, Deluxe and Junior Suites.
The property also provides guests with 2 restaurants – The Circus and Nero, – The Office lounge bar and the charming, open-air The Square, set in the hotel’s cloister. We had dinner at Nero: the choice of the menu is not very wide, but the dishes are modern and with interesting flavors and there are also a kids menu and a special kids dessert list.
The hotel also offers the Bachelet Auditorium & Cinema and 5 meeting rooms.
The Church Palace enjoys a strategic location both for those coming to Rome by car or train or plane. The hotel is located in Via Aurelia 481, in a well-served residential quarter, just 300 meters from the Metro “Cornelia Station” (Line A – just three stops from the Vatican Museums). The Vatican City, St. Peter’s Basilica and the city centre are just 3.5 km far.
Free parking (a very important detail in Rome) is large and very comfortable. For transportation in Rome, you can then decide whether to use your car, public transport (metro line A or bus, which stops right next door) or the shuttle provided by the hotel (which I recommend booking – 4€ per person – in advance because for us there was no availability…).
The breakfast is a classic continental buffet breakfast with the usual choice of sweet and salty.
Wi-Fi is free and well functioning throughout the hotel and there is the possibility to use Handy.
Handy is a phone that is available for free for all hotel guests: you will find it in the room and you can take it with you anywhere. You will always be connected at no cost with 4G and you can also make free calls. Obviously there are limitations (calls are free only to some Countries), but the service is great: it also includes a city guide, maps, navigator… in short, for business or leisure, Handy is really good traveling companion! Just be careful not to lose or damage it…
What is missing? A hotel of this standard is well worth a SPA! Or at least a relaxation area and gym…

Sebbene viaggiamo sempre con la nostra bambina, la nostra scelta ricade su hotel confortevoli, belli, quando si può anche lussuosi. Non siamo la tipica famiglia che si avventura in un viaggio hippie con lo zaino in spalla e bimba al seguito (odio i letti scomodi e le tende) e siamo convinti che si riesca a viaggiare con classe e stile anche con una quasi 5enne entusiasta di tutto ciò che vede.
